I was made a member of the Order of the Pelican on November 26th, 2005 by Their Majesties Uther and Angharad of An Tir. That was also the same day that my home group, Rhuddglyn became a full offical shire. Here's pretty good account of the event is below. Written by HE Kvigr, December 9th, 2005 (who had just won Coronet Tourney to become Tanist of Avacal that day. He stepped up as Prince in February 2006. ) " For those unable to be there, here is how I saw it all play out. Emeric was watching court, from half way between the bar and the front of the hall, near the door to the outside, when right after they gave Kraig a Pelican they told the rest of the Pelicans to stay and then called Manyra. Now Emeric being the swift one that he is, he knew exactly what was going on and I think had a flash of panic thinking Manyra was off in some out of the way spot ignoring court, like ya do. For the first few second he looked like a chicken with his head torn off trying to decide whether to go check outside or go to the Bar and see if she was there. Unfortunately he choose to go outside and see if Manyra was out there. So as Tim ripped out off the hall to find Manyra, she came lollygagging (for lack of better word ) to the front of court from the bar. <note from Manyra - I wasn't lollygagging - I tried to get up there as fast as I could. But I was very confused at why Emeric ran off like that.> Now she was in the back and as I expect was ignoring court, again like ya do. As she came to the front she happened to walk along the side of court where those watching, I would guess, were obscuring her vision of the front. From my perspective it looked like she had no idea what was going on. The look on her face was one of not knowing what’s up seasoned with a bit of chagrin at being called into court when all she wanted was beer (this story is purely speculative). She was finally getting to front by taking the side route, when Emeric came back in to realize she was already up there much to his disappointment at not being able to escort her to the front himself. Now as for Manyra the crowd finally parted enough for her to see through to the front and it looked like a light bulb went on. It was quite the transformation Manyra went from mift about not having a drink/called to court, to wait a minute, why are all these people kneeling here, I was the one called up......... Ohhhhhhhh!!!! and probably the odd curse was thrown in there. I think Manyra surprised TRM when they asked her whether she wanted a vigil or do it now and she said do it. HM Uther did the quick check to see if they did have everything to do it then and there, every thing was and they carried on. It was something else and I was very happy that I was able to be front row and centre for it. I hope Manyra you enjoyed it as much as I did in watching it happen and congrats.
